HideOut Youth Zone

Hi Everyone!

We have some information that has been passed along from the HideOut Youth Zone in Gorton that we would love to share with you.

HideOut is a registered charity whose goal is to provide a safe and inspiring place for young people aged 8-19 (up to 25 years for those with additional needs) to enjoy their free time. The young people have the opportunity to join in with up to 20 activities such as dance, music sports and physical activities, art, drama and so much more. The site itself boasts a fitness suite, a boxing/MMA gym and an indoor climbing wall. It also has a training kitchen where cooking lessons can take place. This allows young people to expand their knowledge and skills in the kitchen. They also have a film and multimedia room that allows young people to get creative.

During the sessions photos are often taken (with parental consent) and uploaded to HideOut’s social media pages. Before they can attend the sessions, young people must become a member, this can be done online through the website https://www.hideoutyouthzone.org/young-people/membership/ and can only be done with parental consent. The membership costs £5 per year, and then 50p a visit.

They structure the programme delivery into 3 main areas:

- 'Junior Club' for young people aged 8-12 years which runs each Tuesday (4PM-8PM) and Thursday evening (4PM-8PM) and Saturday mornings (11AM-3PM).

- 'Seniors Club' for members aged 13-19 (or 25 for those with additional needs) which runs every Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday evening (4PM-9PM for all of these day).

- 'Inclusion' for members with additional needs, with dedicated activities each Sunday. Sundays are for young people with additional needs and are a quieter session which is more likely for young people to have 1-1’s with youth workers. If your young person would like to attend Sundays it would be down to their relevant age and group. Juniors (8-12 year olds) 11am-2pm and Seniors (13-25) 12pm-3pm. You do not need to book for these sessions.

As a charity they normally engage and involve all young people and not just those who are vulnerable. 'Vulnerable' is not just physical or learning difficulties, it covers a range of issues including food poverty and holiday hunger. That's why they have a cafe in the Youth Zone known as 'Queen Bee's Café' which is looked after by their friendly Catering Team and they make sure that the young people are able to buy a hot-meal just for £1!

They do allow young people to come in and have a look around, however, it is advised parents/carers to contact HideOut and book a tour of the youth zone in advance.
