When we were looking for services that could be shared with you all when it came to health and wellbeing the main one that came to us was Manchester Mind. They sent us over quite a bit of information to give you in regards to the help and support they offer for people. Please take note of all that they have to say, they signpost to quite a few different services as well as their own.

"At Manchester Mind, we have a counselling service at our young people's project in Levenshulme, which is for 15 to 25-year-olds. Their direct number is 0161 221 3054 and the direct email is counselling@manchestermind.org

We also run our own Peer Support Groups and information about the project can be found on this page of our website https://www.manchestermind.org/our-services/peer-support/

This following information about other services based in Manchester offering talking therapies. They will have all altered their service delivery as a result of Covid, so you will be able to get updated information directly from each of them about how to access their services and how they are currently providing them.

SUPPORT GROUPS (DEPRESSION AND ANXIETY)/COUNSELLING/CBT/VARIETY OF SERVICES:

Self-Help Services (based in Hulme).

Tel: 0161 226 3871

These services are mostly free (or very low cost, e.g. small donation) and confidential and you can self-refer. You might like to check out the websites of each service to find out a bit more about them before you get in touch to make sure they're right for you. They will all have their own waiting lists but these will differ from service to service.

We don't signpost to specific for-profit counselling and psychotherapy services, but if you wanted to explore your options around private therapy then the link to the BABCP website is www.babcp.com. If you look under 'Public' then 'Find a therapist' you can see which therapists offer CBT and other therapeutic interventions in your area and know that they are properly accredited. The other main site is UKCP and their 'find a therapist page is: https://www.psychotherapy.org.uk/find-a-therapist/

Additionally the BACP website has a similar search function for counselling providers on this webpage - https://www.bacp.co.uk/about-therapy/how-to-find-a-therapist/ . These are not exhaustive lists of all the therapists in your area but are a good place to start should you wish to find a private therapist.

Mind also publish a lot of very useful information about a number of issues, which can be accessed via the links on the following webpage; https://www.mind.org.uk/information-support

As always, it is important that you are keeping track of any symptoms you experience (low mood, anxiety etc) and that you keep in touch with your GP to let them know if your mental health changes or worsens so you can continue to discuss your options to psychological services within the NHS should you so wish.

Finally, I realise how it can often take a while for an appointment to come around following a referral to a service, so it' always worth reminding people of the phone support out there for times when things are just a bit too much and the therapeutic support isn't yet in place, so here are the details for a couple of them that are open every day:

SANE Line:

SANE provides care and emotional support to people with mental health problems (ages 16 or over), their families and carers. SANE provides support in a number of ways including a daily helpline service (SANEline) and an online supportive forum community where anyone can share their experiences of mental health.

Open 4:40-10:30pm daily.

Tel: 0300 304 7000.

Samaritans:

24-hour confidential emotional support.

Tel: 0161 116 123

Manchester Mind."

We know that is a lot of information to digest, but it is also really crucial information for anyone that needs it. The details to contact Manchester Mind directly are.

Manchester Mind

Tel: 0161 769 5732.

We hope you find this information useful and want you to know that if you are having any mental health problems we are a safe space and we are here for you.

All our love and admiration,

Parent 2 Parent,

Vicky, Dave and Sophie
